OFT Starliner by United Launch Alliance
On the 27th day of December in the 2019 holiday season, the prophets of light Developer, Bleach & Fixer delivered this image of the #OFT #AtlasV #Starliner launch, captured on Kodak Ektar 100 film one week prior from the roof of the Vehicle Assembly Building.
As much as we were all fussing over how to digitally expose this launch properly, this analog image was relatively worry-free: I opened the shutter 6-minutes before the rocket ignited, and closed the shutter 6 minutes (or so) after the rocket lifted off. The most challenging part was the absence of immediate feedback and the wait to have the film processed. And wait, I did. (At least once over the past week, I returned to my camera bag to see if I had remembered to turn the aperture ring to f22, or if I had left it on f2.8 after I leveled the horizon.)
In retrospect, I could have ended the exposure sooner and had less blow-out from the rising Sun (frame right), but overall I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Enjoy!
