CRS8 Falcon9 ISS Resupply
A compilation of my photos taken during the #CRS8 #Falcon9 launch by SpaceX. This was the first time the #Dragon capsule has flown since mid-2015.
This mission was a resupply mission, ferrying science experiments and supplies the the International Space Station.
And what a launch it was: the SpaceX team successfully landed the first stage on their drone ship, positioned downrange in the Atlantic ocean.
I wasn't able to spend a ton of time at NASA's Kennedy Space Center for this launch and I extend thanks to We Report Space colleagues Jared Haworth and Bill Jelen for helping me manage my pad camera. I ended up watching the launch from Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, 35 miles to the south, which meant I missed Elon Musk himself, appearing live at the Press Site for the post-launch briefing.
And, another fine job by the 45th Space Wing at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla. and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration supporting this mission.
