1500 Strikes of lightning?

The US National Weather Service Melbourne Florida said this Thursday night's storm east of Melbourne "produced around 1500 strikes from 8-9pm". Based on this narrow, 7-minute-long view of it looking over the Indian River Lagoon, that seems about right. (14-frame mega-composite of consecutive 30-sec exposures by me)
